What Our Customers Say About Us

If you have not visited Rice Style before,
here are some comments from our previous customers.

  • We’ve holidayed in the Far East a number of times over the years yet never experienced Thai food outside of Thailand like Rice Style.
Having dined here several times and enjoyed it so much we took a friend who is a bit of a foodie and Rice Style past the test that many others have failed.
Working our way through their menu, this visit we chose Rad Prik with crispy belly pork which was so so tasty and Sea Bass Penang which was equally as good.
It was a stiffling night so we sat outside at the front on Bishopthorpe Road, all that was needed were passing Tuk Tuks and we could have been back in the ‘Land of Smiles’
This restaurant is not to be missed, pre-booking is reccomended.

  • Lovely little Thai resturant hidden out of the way in a York suburb. Staff are so cute and friendly and the food is excellent. Chicken stay was tasty and plentifull and the duck spring rolls mouth wateringly good. We went for the traditional Thai dishes red curry & pad thai but nest time wecome we will be more adventurous, the table next to us had seabass omg it looked amazing.

  • Reccomended by our B&B Carlton House this lovely friendly oasis is a hidden gem in York. We’ve spent several holidays in Thailand over the years and the fare in Rice Style is as near to Thai food as you get in Thailand.
Thai red curry was deeeelicious and their noodles with crispy belly pork was TO DIE FOR.
Cant reccomend this lovely restaurant enough and very reasonably priced too.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed this Thai Restaurant on Bishopthorpe Road last night.

We went without a reservation but managed to get a table. For us the tables were a little close together but it did stimulate conversations between tables!

The food was all beautifully presented and really flavoursome. I had a Rice Style signature dish, which was an interesting alternative to the more standard red, green, yellow curries (which im sure were lovely, i just like to try different things!). Ive never had belly pork at a Thai but it worked well and was very tasty.

We both had starters and mains and a couple of beers and it came in a shade under £50 so it was good value, in our opinion.

The service was excellent and we’d definitely go back to try other things on the menu!

We parked in the council car park a few steps away, which is free after 6 so really convenient.

  • I stumbled on this lovely restaurant whilst staying overnight in York.
I decided to walk away from town from the river rather than towards it and am so glad I did.
The restaurant is on a nice street with some other quirky shops, pubs and restaurants.
The service was quick and very friendly.
I had a scallop starter which was really tasty.
For main I had a house special with pork belly and pineapple. It was absolutely delicious, well balanced with delicate fragrance and yet powerful spice and the pork belly complemented the sauce wonderfully.
With a couple of beers it was a bit under 30 quid so not the cheapest but IMO one of the best Thai meals I’ve ever had in England.

  • I haven’t eaten in many Thai restaurants but by comparison to those I have this was simply excellent. Staff we’re very friendly, food fabulous and decor lovely. It’s not the cheapest but portions are generous so you don’t mind so much. There’s a handy car park at the end of the block or an easy walk from the train station and city centre.

  • We’ve being going to the same Thai restaurant in York for a couple of years, though we’ll now be adding the Rice Style to our list of favoured eateries, due to its good service and great food. The dishes are prepared slightly differently to the norm and are full of flavour and style. The waitress was friendly and service was swift.

  • This is a good quality neighborhood restaurant which delivers tasting food with friendly service and a pleasant ( if a little cramped ) environment. A welcome addition tot he Bishopthorpe Road strip.
